Hygen
Introduction
Hygen
(Hybrid Generator) is an environment friendly, load-adaptive, variable-speed
electricity generating and UPS system with energy storage, which
can also convert electric power from other sources such as solar
and wind. It integrates engine, alternator, power electronics and
microprocessors into an intelligent power system that delivers reliable,
high quality power at constant voltage and frequency suitable for
all loads including modern electronic appliances and other sensitive
equipment. It is programmed to optimize engine operation under all
load conditions and it maintains its performance and high quality
of supply even under the most abusive load conditions which conventional
generators and UPS units cannot cope with without sustaining damage
or compromise in performance or output quality.
Hygen
does this far more economically than conventional gensets which
operate at constant speed - with up to 70% fuel saving and 300%
longer engine life in some applications. It can, however, be optimised
for power or dynamic response, where these features are more important
to a given user. It can also be used as a compact UPS with extended
autonomy limited only by the quantity of fuel in the tank; there
is no need for large rooms to accommodate storage batteries.
There
is a fundamental difference between Hygen and other variable-speed
systems. The diagrams show a standard variable system on the left
and the Hygen system on the right.
