This process delivers an amazing level of liquid repellency to whole products including: electronics, lenses, hard surfaced equipment, fabrics and footwear. It is Ultimate Protection against Hazardous Chemicals and Toxins for Military, State Emergency, Police and Fire Personnel Treating Fabrics That Remain Breathable and Without Altering Their Original Properties.

There are two types of water repellency treatments used for different product types, Aridion and Ion Mask.

P2i Aridion Technology Provides

  • Protection: Aridion™ delivers an amazing level of liquid repellency to whole devices, so that on treated surfaces, liquid forms beads and simply rolls off.
  • Reliability: Aridion™ transforms the reliability of electronic devices containing delicate, expensive components at high risk of liquid damage through corrosion or electrical failure.
  • Durability: The liquid repellent nano-coating is physically bonded at a molecular level, so it lasts as long as the material it protects.
  • Invisibility: The unique ultra-thin Aridion™ protective layer invisibly improves the performance of electronic devices without affecting the product’s look or feel.

Electrical Properties

The Aridion coating has no effect on the electrical properties of a device:

  • The nano-scale coating is too thin to prevent electrical conduction across contacts −Theoretical calculations suggest <1V required to break through film locally
  • The film is insulating (resistivity ~ 1018Ω-cm) so does not cause leakage between adjacent contacts

P2i Ion-Mask Technology Provides

  • Protection: Ion-Mask™ delivers an amazing level of liquid repellency to fabrics and footwear, so that on treated surfaces, liquid forms beads and simply rolls off.
  • Reliability: Ion-Mask™ makes an object hydrophobic (water repellent) and oleophobic (oil repellent) without changing how it looks or feels.
  • Durability: The liquid repellent nano-coating is physically bonded at a molecular level, so that it provides long-lasting protection.
  • Invisibility: The unique ultra-thin Ion-Mask™ protective layer (1/1,000th the width of a human hair) can be applied to any 2D or 3D object – fully manufactured products or raw materials.

Water Uptake

Ion-mask™ provides reduced water uptake, in fabrics and shoes and speeds drying times. An EN ISO 20345 standard, Test done on 12th of Sept 2007 in Lyon by CTC (Centre Technique Cuir) showed that during the testing water uptake of an untreated shoe was over 20 grams at the 3 hour mark. The P2i treated equivalent’s uptake was only 5 grams over 3 hours. The test is designed to mimic walking in long wet grass.
